I’m a brazilian social worker and artist working between São Paulo (BR), Berlin (DE) and North Adams (USA). My work combines photography, video and performance and I use from artistic and anthropological methods to create situations for community building. Gender lies at the heart of the research. I’m interested in the constructs of masculinities and have been working with Drag Kings online communities in the past years, as well as developing my own King, Barba Luluxo. In 2018, I completed an MA in Visual Anthropology at Freie Universität Berlin with a DAAD scholarship. My thesis topic was the migration of latin american women in Berlin and the field work was based on photography workshops about latin identity at a latin american women center. This workshop were repeated several times in other centers that support migration in Berlin. I’m interested on how the practice of photography can build communities and support social change. Recently I’m looking into inter-generational ideas over feminism in the context of migration.
